About Me

Hello! My name is Parker and I am a journalist, writer, artist, and adventurer with a passion for learning fun facts. I recently moved from the Midwest to the Southwest and am eager to explore this part of the country.

Currently, I work for The Daily Courier in Prescott, Arizona. As one of the core reporters on staff, I cover local government, business, and transportation across Yavapai County. Much of my work focuses on city council meetings, entrepreneur profiles, and a range of other issues affecting Northern Arizona.

I graduated from the University of Iowa in May 2024 with a bachelor’s of arts in journalism & mass communications and cinema, and a minor in art. As a student, I had an immense number of academic and social experiences that define who I am as a person and as a creator.

I studied abroad in Ireland for six weeks, which gave me a new worldly perspective and reignited my love for travel and exploring. I also worked at The Daily Iowan for four years — including as Managing Editor — which was absolutely invaluable experience. I accomplished two professional internships, and ran the social media for the UI School of Social Work. My work experiences often overlapped, giving me a baptism-by-fire in time management.

My dream job is simply to do something meaningful and creative, whether that be writing or visual work. I have a special love for film analysis and criticism, which inspired me to launch my own film blog as a student.

In my spare time, I volunteered with multiple literary magazines as an editor. I also keep up with my hobbies of illustration, animation, photography, graphic design, and hanging out with my pet tortoise Angelo. (He says howdy!)
