Writing

I have extensive experience with journalism, copywriting, and creative writing across a variety of subjects. Check out my portfolio:

The Daily Courier

I currently work for The Daily Courier in Prescott, Arizona. My beats include local government, business, and transportation. I regularly cover city council meetings, and am the sole reporter on call for municipal elections. Some of the most interesting clips so far include breaking a story on human trafficking and city election confusion.

The Corridor Business Journal

Post-grad, I worked for the Corridor Business Journal covering local business news and economic development, and profiling innovative entrepreneurs. A large portion of my work was dedicated to compiling a list of 500 Iowa CEO’s for the CBJ’s inaugural IA 500 publication.

The Daily Iowan

I worked for The Daily Iowan for four years as a college student; I began as an Arts Reporter and worked my way up to Managing Editor. My writing here focused on the arts and entertainment scene, as well as long-form projects about subjects like the Herbert Hoover Museum and Iowa’s deathcare industry.

The Carroll Times Herald

I interned at the Carroll Times Herald in Carroll, Iowa, for a summer of invaluable breaking news coverage and small-town journalism. I covered political events attended by former Vice President Mike Pence, and profiled up-and-coming musicians with local ties.

UI School of Social Work

I also worked as the Student Communications Specialist at the UI’s School of Social Work for a time, where I wrote profile articles on students and alumni. I also managed the department’s Facebook and Instagram content, as well as learned basic website maintenance.

Poetry

In addition to journalism, I have a passion for artistic literature and poetry. Here are my published personal pieces:

Fools Magazine

My poem “skeleton wrists” was published in Vol. 12 of Fools Magazine. I briefly served as a writing editor for Fools Magazine after this poem’s publication.

New Moon Literary Journal

My poem “mayfly suspended” was published in the October 2023 issue of New Moon.
